Inspiration

At the Inaugural Conference in Bogotá in 2017, the sharing by Father José Leonardo Rincón on ‘The Theology of Leadership’ was engraved on everyone’s mind. The Heads of the RSHM Schools expressed their desire to use his material as the basis of a retreat experience to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the material he shared which connected the characteristics of Christ’s leadership model with the educational mission of our Global Network.

Inaugural Heads Meeting – Retreat

To enable us to do this, the Coordinating Committee and host schools from Portugal invited two RSHM sisters, one, a member of the Portuguese Province and a bibilical scholar: Sister Luísa Almendra ; the other a member of the Eastern American Province and the Institute historian, Sister Kathleen Connell.

From the Sacred Scriptures and the RSHM Sources we were invited to take a journey on Leadership. Different approaches, different perspectives.

The meeting began with integration activities in Lisbon, Portugal on June 28, 2018. The retreat was held in Fatima, Portugal from June 29 to July 2 and was a tremendously enriching experience for all who participated.

Above is a photo of the group at our meeting in Fatima.

The programme of our days together combined fellowship and sharing as well as the opportunity for quiet reflection and prayer. Both Sisters shared with us key aspects of Scripture and RSHM Sources on the theme to enable us to grow in our understanding and appreciation of what it means to be a LEADER within an RSHM school.

We are extremely grateful to the Portuguese Province for their planning and organisation of our Retreat experience.
