The Life Project Sister Maria de Aquino – Ubá was founded in March 2012, by the Sisters Maria Aparecida Moreira (Paré), Maria Ângela Machado and Judith Caliman. The socio-welfare unit, located in the Palmeiras district, on the outskirts of town, in the interior of the Minas Gerais State, was created in commemoration of the centenary of the arrival of the Sisters of Sagrado Coração de Maria to Brazil.

Initially, the service was intended for children and adolescents from 6 to 12 years. On the other hand, the coordination of the unity, unlike the others, did not have in front the coordination conducted by nuns, since its inauguration occurred precisely in the period in which the sisters passed these functions to lay people.

Today, the institution develops socio-educational work with about 70 children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 12. The beneficiaries are involved in educational, recreational, sports and professional activities. Simultaneously, there are still actions by the families of these minors in the area of seeking to strengthen ties in a preventive and proactive character.
