Marymount Los Angeles was proud to host the Global Network of RSHM Schools on its campus this past summer, and honored to partner with Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School and the RSHM Western American province in facilitating this endeavor. More than 100 Administrators, Faculty, and Sisters from New York, Paris, London, Rome, Lisbon, Fátima, Oporto, Cuernavaca, Barranquilla, Bogata, Medellin, Brazil, and Montebello came together to engage in dialogue about our shared commitment and mission to educating young people to be leaders in shaping a more just world. Conference participants reflected on the vision of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) and how we can continue to live this mission throughout our global network of schools.

The four-day conference was entitled, “Harnessing the Power of Our Stories,” and featured many engaging symposia on a myriad of topics including the importance of mission, the vocation of partnership among the laity and Religious, teaching empathy and awareness,  developing collaborative projects, sharing essential stories, stories that need to be told, and our response to the Gospel call so that all might have life.  A highlight of the conference was a pilgrimage to the Provincial Center of the Western American Province, where we enjoyed Mass with the Sisters who live and work there, many of whom have been very involved in our schools in South America, North America, Africa, and Europe.

We eagerly anticipate continued collaboration with the RSHM and with colleagues around the world to promote the mission inspired by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. Together, our RSHM Schools annually educate the more than 30,000 students entrusted to our care. As we share our unique heritage with our students, we seek to find ways to connect them with their peers around the world in finding their own voice to make a difference in the world.
