Founded in 2003 by Sister Judith Caliman, with the collaboration of the Sisters Maria de Lourdes Machado, Antonina Martins, Carlinda da Silva and Maria Ângela Machado, the Life Project Father Gailhac – Belo Horizonte is a social assistance unit that offers the service of coexistence and strengthening of bonds for children and adolescents, from 6 to 15 years.

Since its inauguration, the socio-welfare unit has been operating in the Lagoa district since the nuns responsible for its creation lived there since 1992. At the time, the sisters had the support of Father Custódio José do Amaral from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Everyone was very concerned about the children of this region who were already at social risk.

Initially, the service was intended for children and adolescents from 7 to 11 years old and coordination of the unit was carried out by nuns. But, since 2012, this service is done by lay people.

The proposal is to offer social, pedagogical and cultural activities focused on stimulating and orienting the beneficiaries on the construction and reconstruction of their stories, individual and collective experiences.
